What Aida’s Trip to Hawai‘i Inspired Us to Share

Aloha e Reader,

Aida just returned from a month-long adventure across Maui and O‘ahu, where she spent her time scouting new hikes, restaurants, and boutique hotels for our travel clients—and yes, sneaking in some shave ice too.

The buzz on the islands? The fabulous new Cirque du Soleil show, ‘Auana (trust us, it’s worth seeing!), and the Apple series, Chief of War. Everyone’s talking about it, and it got us thinking about all the ways to explore Hawai‘i beyond the resort.

So, we pulled together a few ways you can dive deeper into Hawai‘i’s stories, culture, and flavors, whether you’re planning a trip or simply dreaming of one:

🎥 Watch: Chief of War
Jason Momoa’s new Apple TV+ series explores the roots of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

📖 Read: Hula by Jasmin Iolani Hakes
A powerful novel about family, identity, history, and the deeper meaning of hula.

🎧 Listen: Gabby Pahinui – Gabby (1972)
This legendary slack key guitar album looks into the soulful sound of old-school Hawai‘i.

🍽️ Eat: Cook Real Hawai‘i by Sheldon Simeon
This award-winning cookbook is full of craveable recipes that reflect the local food scene.

Hawai‘i is one of the most naturally stunning places on Earth—but it’s also layered, rich in history, and deeply local. If you want to travel there in a way that goes deeper, we’re here to help you do just that!

Cheers! Aida, Kristen, and Team Salt & Wind Travel
