Last Chance: 4 Spring Break Trips Worth Booking 🌴

Hi Reader,

If spring break is on your mind but not yet on your calendar, consider this your friendly nudge.

The first week of February is pretty much your last chance to plan a spring break trip without paying through the nose. If that's something you're looking to do, don't fret! Reach out and we can help you make it happen.

Here are a few places our clients love that are really special for families during spring break.

Palm Springs & the Coachella Valley

The desert is hitting that sweet spot where it's warm enough to spend the day poolside, but not yet unbearable. Music festival crowds haven't arrived and Modernism Week is over, so you get the best version of the area.

Hikes for all levels, potential wildflowers depending on the year, and you can often still take the aerial tram up to snow at the top.

If you're escaping a cold climate, the simple pleasure of eating outside and soaking up vitamin D is worth the trip alone.

Maui for Families

There's usually still whale watching to be had during spring break, and Maui is ground zero for that. The west and south shores of the island (Ka'anapali, Wailea) have calmer water that's friendlier for kids.

Accommodations range from condos to boutique hotels to five-star resorts where parents can steal a night out while the kids are happy at the pool or beach club.

And the greatest hits (Haleakalā, the road to Hāna) are easier to access without the crowds.

Late-Season European Skiing

If the Olympics have you dreaming of skiing in Europe, know that it's totally doable, and often cheaper than the US, especially for family-friendly areas.

In Switzerland, Zermatt and Grindelwald offer activities beyond skiing for families who want to mix it up. In Italy, Cervinia and Courmayeur are great options.

This late in the season you get longer days, warmer weather, and corn snow that's friendly for beginner to intermediate skiers.

Paris in Spring

Yes, the weather may not be perfect (it could be rainy or gray), but spring break is a great time for kids who are learning French, studying French history, or just into Emily in Paris to experience the city without the crowds.

Notre Dame, the Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower are all easier to access without ungodly lines.

If the weather cooperates, you might catch the beginning of spring blossoms, and river cruises or exploring historic sites are that much better without fighting the masses.

Bonjour Reader, I’m writing this from Nice, where I’ve spent the last few days eating my way through the city. Every trip, I have to visit the Cours Saleya market and get some absolute classics, like the chickpea pancake socca, and of course salade niçoise (no cooked vegetables, as any local will firmly remind you). On the road, I tend to live on the simple things. A good French carrot salad from a market vendor is my go-to when I need something quick. It’s simple and light, the kind of thing...

Hi Reader, Italy has trains, buses, ferries, rental cars, private drivers, and flights connecting every corner of the country. That’s the good news. The bad news? Knowing which one to use, and when, is the difference between a smooth trip and a stressful one. Our team has spent more than ten years figuring out the best combinations for every kind of traveler. Rachel’s personal record is twelve transfers in a single day (we don’t recommend this). Read our Italy transportation guide for all the...

Hi Reader, Planning a honeymoon in Hawai’i sounds simple until you realize there are six main islands, hundreds of resorts, and everyone on the internet has a very strong opinion about where you should go. Most of that advice is wrong, or at least, wrong for you. There’s no single “best” island. But after years of planning honeymoons here (and eating an unreasonable number of musubis in the name of research), we’ve gotten pretty good at matching couples to islands. Our full Hawai’i honeymoon...
